"Sneaky" aint really our thing. . .
So, to make our break more fun, we decided to do something sneaky. We like to think of ourselves as very stealthy, like ninjas in a minivan.
We made a slew of heart shaped sugar cookies, cut out a bazillion glittery hearts, and headed off to do our dirty work. We picked two houses to "heart attack", leaving them with a little surprise on their doorstep. Calvin and I stayed in the car as all good get-away drivers do, and Jake took the other three up to the door. We did pretty well at the first house and I like to think they had no idea it was us.
The second house, The Christensens, didn't go as smoothly. As soon as they exited the van, they were met with an overly friendly neighbor's "licky" dog. Miles and Lucy were terrified, running screaming into full view of the front windows. After regrouping, they all headed up the front steps to tape the hearts on the door and leave the plate on the doorstep. Well, Miles cried the whole time, "The dog's gonna EAT me!" and Tate and Lucy argued over who would hang up which hearts.
By the time they all got back in the car and we were driving away, Jake realized he had pounded on the outside storm door and might not have been heard, so we turned around and did a drive by. Just as their front door was coming into view, we realize the WHOLE family is standing on the front porch looking at our handiwork. I panicked, hit the gas, and squealed my tires as we fled in a panic.
That's not even the non-sneaky part.
As if there could have been any doubt in anyone's mind as to who had done it, the next day in primary, Lucy did us in. When the teacher asked if anyone had done anything to celebrate V-day, Lucy chimed in, "We made cookies and cut out hearts to leave on somebody's door step. But I'm not telling who!"
She was sitting right next to her very best friend, Ellie Christiensen.

Ha ha! Ellie came home from church and said, "It was Lucy who hearted us." Thanks for the cookies and love. We needed it!
You can always make my day. I love reading about your adventures and the stars of the show.
You're brave to even try it with such young kids. We waited until ours were a lot older before we tried to be sneaky minivan ninjas.
what a fun liitle adventure! It sounds like lots of fun!
IT was hilarious when Lucy said that because right when she was done saying it she got all wide eyed and covered her mouth and said "I wasn't supposed to tell."
It was complete innocence. When we got to Ellie, she said someone put a bunch of hearts on our door and we didn't know who did it. Than she looks right at Lucy and starts giggling.
I wish that Lucy was in our class permantly. She is so cute and is very knowledgeable.
So...I have to ask. Did you leave cookies at OUR door?? Someone left cookies and we were gone. They were heart-shaped cookies and we have NO idea who left them.
That is a GREAT story!
