The Good Life

Wouldn't it be nice to be carried around all day? Fed when hungry? Clothed, changed, burped on command? Praised for being chubby? Ah, to be a baby again. If only I could get used to the strained peas.

Blowing Bubbles

Lawrence Welk may have been on to something. We LOVE bubbles. Two of our wonderful neighbor girls introduced us to blowing bubbles this way. We filled plastic cups with store bought bubbles and had a great time seeing who could overflow theirs first. I think Lucy wins for quantity, Tate for quality. He was going for a giant bubble and had quite a technique perfected by the end of the activity.

New York City, no big deal

Never did I think I would find going into New York City not such a big deal. We went to the baby blessing of Jane, the third child of our friends, the Boyles, in the city last Sunday and I realized I've lost that "Ooh. . . big buildings. . .Wow" feeling. Lucy and Petra had fun together. You'd never guess Petra's a month older. . . unless you know the Boyles.

World Famous Bronx Zoo my foot!

The kids and I traveled to the Bronx in New York on Friday along with our friends, Jacob and Landon, to apply for positions at their so-called "world famous zoo". We figured if anyone is qualified to eat all day, smell real bad, and attract attention for just being strange looking, it's us!
We applied first at the gopher farm. The gophers liked us well enough but apparently we were a little too strange looking because they all started slacking on their gopher responsibilities just to check us out.

Also, the plexiglass tube was a bit of a tight fit for four kids, and the gopher kibble tasted a little too much like gopher kibble.
This oh-so famous zoo didn't even have any opposums so we auditioned for that, but the kids were a little too nobby kneed to climb through logs and the whole no tail thing kind of worked against us.

Miles inquired about any openings for creatures well suited for climbing and destroying but they had that pretty well covered with the other 8 month old primate.

Turns out all he's good for is weighing down a stroller after all. It's the massive head that makes him particularly well suited for this.

The boys all thought caterpillars might be fun with the squirming and eating leaves and all.

They even got accepted to this position but once we entered the butterfly house and they realized what caterpillars turned into, they clutched each other and screamed like little girls.

Besides, Tate and Lucy were caught eating all the flowers outside. When confronted with the accusation, they said, "Who us? No way, we're too sweet. See?"

Lucy tried out for turtle, but had just a few too many ding dongs to go until the suit would fit.

Tate really thought he had the goat job in the bag since I often accuse him of smelling like one in the evening. The goats took a vote though, and he smelled a little too much like one.

In the end, they told us to pack up and go home. They hinted that maybe we ate too much, smelled a little too beastly, and were altogether over qualified to work in a place for wild animals. Lucy was very relieved,

and frankly, I am too. I'm exhausted!

How big is too big for the cart?

Just some funny Pictures

Every Sunday night before sending kids to bed, we watch "America's Funniest Home Videos" together and eat Jake's famous (to us) kettle corn. This must have been a particularly rough Sunday for Lucy.

Alright, maybe she just needs longer naps.

Thanks to Nana and Grandpa Parker, Lucy looks like Belle for most of every afternoon.

While looking at these next photos, let the theme music for "Jaws" run through your head. Duh-nuh. . . Duh-nuh. . . Duh-nuh. . . .

Cantaloupe? Bowling ball? Globe? You decide!

My mom often compares the shape of my head to a casaba melon. I think it may be genetic.

A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words

The phrase, "A picture is worth a thousand words." must have been written by a photographer. Those thousand words include but are not limited to "stop it, come here, sit down, just two more, no no scoot over, don't touch the baby's eyes, please don't have that look on your face, just smile normal, no normal like other people, sit back down, I'll give you a pop tart!"

I never did get the picture I wanted. But at least I saved myself 7000 words by posting these pictures!

Mmm. . . Cedar

Miles isn't getting enough fiber in his diet, so he's taking matters into his own hands. . . er. . teeth.
