All of our loose odds and ends
We went to the Annual Library Open House last weekend looking for a good time. While a good time was not to be found, we got some exercise (1 mile round trip!), Lucy got her face painted (Jake asked if he could try his hand at the face painting station. Needless to say, kids were lined up to get him to do theirs too.), and I got my overdue library movie (that I didn't even know we had) turned in. Not a total loss, but we might choose a better way to spend the afternoon next year, like cleaning the baseboards or watching leaves fall off trees.
Speaking of which, IT"S COMING!!!! The tree at the end of our street is starting to change and I'll get a picture tomorrow.

We also went to the Zoo again last week and Miles bonded with the giant smelly sleeping tiger. He had a hard time tearing himself away from that window. Until I told him we could go see some giant smelly sleeping bears. That kid's just one thrill after another.

The Fairy Princess and the White Vampire
What a lovely start to the day we had today. Lucy's shrieks rang through the house after Miles sunk his pearly whites into her arm. Granted, she wasn't treating him with love or kindness, but his revenge is always the same, "KILL!" She got three little holes in her forearm, a big purple bruise, and a grudge that she'll hang onto for a long long time. It's going to be a long day.

Why I love 6 year old boys:
Jake was explaining to Tate about fall: "So all the leaves fall off the trees, the weather gets colder, and all the birds fly south where it's warmer."
Tate: "Well, why don't we just catch them all and put coats on them?"

Good bye until next summer, Granny!
We went to Granny's house for the last time until next year. *Sob!* We're going to miss her, but here's the highlights:

Wow, I'm starting to look old. I never noticed all those wrinkles until I saw this picture.

Lucy had her brain surgically removed by Dr. Spongebob while we were visiting.

"No kid, I'm not going to share my celebrex."

You can take the kid out of Slobville, but you can't take the Slobville out of the kid.

This trip to our favorite ice cream shop was a very successful bribe. Everyone was mostly civil all day. Tate got playdoh ice cream, but was disappointed that it didn't taste anything like Playdoh.

Wow, so who needs a haircut the least in this bunch?!

A sweet little fiddler crab crawled into her shoe and she didn't enjoy it. Go figure.

Miles liked the quality time with Reid, but he mostly liked watching him and Tate dig up crabs to dump down the back of Lucy's dress.

He'll take any chance he gets to play in the dirt.

Heaven forbid we should have to put down the "guy" to play with our fiddler crabs.

Miles is wanting some crab legs for lunch. (Zoom in on Jake's shirt)

I swear, I brushed it.

Wouldn't it be great if we all could wear sundresses like this? Although, I don't know if it would look all that great on Jake.

Nothing like an Uncle who doesn't mind touching creepy crawly things!
We had a great time with Granny and can't wait until she comes back!

Party!!? Any excuse will do!
I don't need much of an excuse to throw a party, so even though I hate to see summer leave, it would be an even bigger shame to pass up a perfectly good chance for a party.

Our event coordinators (K and J) set up a superb obstacle course, in which we almost killed a member of our bishopric. Feet first, first time Jesse!!
We had lots of food (provided by everyone who came) and I was the head taste-tester.

Reid had moved in the day before, so he was under the false impression that this was the coolest house on earth.

Kristen thought I was talking to her when I offered food for a smile.

Our resident cake-decorator extraordinaire, Karen, outdid herself with this miniature slip-and-slide.

Lucy and Landon destroyed the remains when I wasn't looking, but we all got a chance to ooh, ahh, and taste.

Okay, okay, okay!!!
I know, I know! Don't take a big break from blogging or your friends and mother will hound you to DEATH. I've had a big week. We've had expected visitors (yay, Reid's here!) and unexpected visitors. Here's a gimpse:

I'm back to making bread, Lucy's sick, I've gained 10+ lbs this summer due to cookies (these are Cynthia's to die for chocolate cookies), and we found something new and yummy, husked tomatoes!
That's all I have time for. I will do more when I have time to download pictures. Sorry mom.
