No Shame at All!

We went to Tod's Point Beach again yesterday. It was just a tiny bit chilly but nice and warm on the sand. Just perfect. Lucy got her pants all dirty in the water and so she just dropped them right there on the shoreline and pranced around for everyone to see "london and france".

Tate and his friend Anna searched for beach glass all day.

This is my view from the front seat. Lucy just wasn't in the mood to be photographed. She's practicing for the paparazzi when she's a famous something or other.

She really doesn't like the feeling of seashells under her feet. We never had this problem in California because there didn't seem to be too many seashells there.

This is Lucy and her new best friend Ellie. This is especially funny because her best friend from Texas is Ella and both girls have the same last name!

Goodbye Sammy the Squirrel

Well, Sammy the Squirrel (Jake's mustache) has gone to a better place. A place where sleazy guys wander freely without shame or fear of harassment. May Sammy rest in peace and never return. Clean shaven Jake was welcomed back into our family with open arms.

Facial Hair and Pharmacies

Lucy has had asthma problems for the last few days and our wonderful Dr. has been doing everything he can to keep her out of the hospital. He calls each day and gives us instructions depending on her progress. She and I spent several hours down at his office on Friday trying to get the breathing under control. It's NO FUN!

Miles has started looking like Swamp thing because he has seborrhea on his face. It's cradle cap that spreads down onto their cheeks and we're having a hard time getting rid of it, so the Dr. prescribed a new fancy cream for him.

It's week 3 of the mustache and things are getting hairy. He he he. Jake's starting to get a little too comfortable in his newly grown accessory, and I fear he's going to try and keep it even after he's allowed to shave. It's probably like having a little friend with you all the time. Maybe if the kids and I start referring to it as "sammy the squirrel" he'll get the hint.

Bare beach bunnies

We had a wonderful sunny warm (about 61!!) day here on Friday, so the kids and I went to this fantastic beach near our home. Lucy and Tate both got soaking wet from the waist down (freezing in the wind!), requiring a change of pants in public (thus the bare beach bunnies).

Does Tate look a little chilly?

This is Lucy's best friend, Landon. His mother and I have reinstated arranged marriages just to make sure these two end up together.

Ansel Alison

Not that Lucy's a tree or anything, but this is my favorite picture of all time. We have it in a big black frame on our mantle.

Why are women avoiding Jake in the grocery store?

Some people can get away with wearing a mustache. Tom Selleck, for instance, is not too bad looking. I've been known to watch Quigley Down Under just for him.

Also, my brother-in-law, Christian, looks good with a mustache, as do a handful of firefighters. Other than that, clean shaven faces are best (in my opinion) and that includes my husband.
Blue Sky Studios has decided to issue a challenge to it's design and story departments. Until Act 1 is "on reels" (finished), each of them is not allowed to shave above their top lip. This wasn't too bad for the first couple of days because he just didn't shave at all and he looked a little furry. This morning he shaved everything but the mustache and now he looks as though he should be selling used cars or swindling people out of money. "Greasy" is the best word we could come up with to describe it and you can see for yourself, it's not a good look for him. It looks like a giant caterpillar crawled onto his face and died. The kids and I have decided to sport our own lip-wear in silent protest.

Darn that Fire Marshall!

Jake took Tate down to the Comic Book Convention in NYC on Saturday. They arrived about an hour after they opened the doors and it was already so crowded that the Fire Marshall wasn't letting anyone else in. Tate was extremely disappointed (but not as disappointed as Jake was) but felt better when these storm troopers showed up outside.
The day wasn't a total bust though. They walked to a comic shop in Times Square and got to mingle with all the other nerds. They got to ride the subway (Fun to do if you're a 4 year old boy. Not so much if you're a germ-freak mommy) and eat pizza on a street corner. So, not a total waste of a day.
It's snowing here again. We got about 5 or 6 inches yesterday. Not enough to be a major pain in the bum, but it was enough to get Jake sent home from work 2 hours early! Yay! He came home and shoveled the walks and slid down the hills with Tate. Lucy, Miles, and I watched from the safety of the living room. Lucy's feeling much better today. Her fever has been gone for 24 hours and her cough is much less intense, but she still sounds like a smoker when she talks. Poor little girl.

Quarantined

Lucy's got croup, which is probably the one childhood disease we haven't had yet. She started with it on Monday night at about 9pm and it was full blown by 11pm. She's on steriods and taking breathing treatments, but she still coughs all the time. We've got her quarantined on her bed with the portable DVD player that my sibs got us for Christmas. Cinderella is playing on repeat 24 hours a day and Lucy is consuming alarming amounts of snacks and juice. Poor kid. The rest of us are exhausted too!
