Having a lousy day. . .

It's one of those days.

No, actually, it's one of those weeks.

Between the broken oven, the broken attic stairs, the broken van, the lazy 4 year old, the order that we placed 2 months ago for a new car getting canceled, the rotten weather, and the teething 17 month old who refuses to sleep at night, I've had it.

If it wasn't for this:

I'd so be getting some of this:

Alas, I won't, and so it's still a crummy, crummy day.

Guess who slept from 9pm until 5am?!

Pretty Penny

That's right, she's a keeper!

This one, however, is not:

Field Day 2010

IMG_2201

We survived another field day. I say survived because it was steaming hot that day and I had two babies with me that had no interest in staying in the stroller.

IMG_2200

Tate was a great mentor for Miles.

IMG_2197

Well, a pretty good mentor.

IMG_2196

Ok, so it may have gotten a little harried when the hula hoop race started.

IMG_2195

He did alright until the second hoop got to him while he was still wrestling the first one.

IMG_2194

That, along with the pressure of holding two girls' hands at the same time caused him to lose a wee bit of his concentration.

IMG_2193

And somebody in the class dropped a hula hoop, but nobody knows exactly who it was. . .

IMG_2192

and I'm certainly not telling.

IMG_2191

It was hard enough to get the crowds to forget about our stunning display of physical ineptitude
from last year.

IMG_2190

Just wait until they see Lucy two days later!

I could get used to this. . .

Oh what a wonderful day...

IMG_2030

The weather is perfect, I'm sitting on the grass, Calvin is playing with a dead playground ball, and I'm listening to this little girl make cute noises on a blanket next to me.

IMG_2008

I might even take a nap if it weren't for the runner.

IMG_2019

If I'm not careful, he'll wait until my attention is pointed in another direction and head for the street.

IMG_2022

Lucky for me, he's loving the no pants and flat ball.

IMG_2023

Lucy's playing with her buddy, not letting Miles play, and for once not whining about anything.

IMG_2041

Check on the little guy again. Still no pants and now he's playing with trash. Awesome.

IMG_2043

Tate's in the house reading, and Miles has found something to do too.

I could really get used to this.

IMG_2010

Five kids is a breeze!

IMG_1999

Never mind. Spoke too soon.

IMG_1997

"Oh look! She has toes little enough for me to pull off!"

IMG_2002

"Or maybe poke her in the eye again. Haven't done that yet this afternoon."

IMG_2001

"No, I think I'll just lay on top of her until she pops."

Letters from the Tooth Fairy

Usually it's just the standard tooth-for-cash, but every once in a while, the Tooth Fairy has something to say.

Sparkle Pig

IMG_2120

You know how older brothers and sisters are supposed to torment the baby of the family by making up embarrassing nicknames?

Well, meet Sparkle Pig.

IMG_2121

Yes, sadly this baby is now known affectionately as Sparkle Pig.

Something about making snorting noises when she's hungry.

IMG_2113

She seems to endure the taunting fairly well. Although, sometimes she does get tired of it.

IMG_2103

What she doesn't realize, is that around here, we don't just like her.

IMG_2114

We love pork!

IMG_2115

Apparently, she doesn't find this very funny.

Like Moths to a Flame

It never ceases to amaze me what attracts little boys.

IMG_2128

For instance, do you know how long three little boys can resist a full bucket of water? Especially if they have "real" clothes on (as opposed to a swimming suit) and are supposed to be going somewhere in 10 minutes?

Not long.

IMG_2139

"What? You found a bucket of water?"

IMG_2143

"You must need my help!"

IMG_2148

"Here, we can make a much bigger mess if I just use this cup to dump the water all over both of us."

IMG_2145

Tate's always the good big brother who knows no party is complete until you've involved half the toys from inside. At this point, he starts bringing out plastic animals to "swim".

IMG_2152

Seriously, how often do you see a 9 year old, a 4 year old and a 17 monther playing together?

IMG_2154

Well, if it involves water, mud, throwing stuff, or building legos, it's quite often over here.

IMG_2135

By the way, once they realized I was taking pictures, it was all over.

IMG_2134

All I got from there on out were shots of Tate acting like SpongeBob.

IMG_2133

Oh well, SpongeBob's all wet too, ya know!
